Project Description and its Relationship with the Vilcabamba Fest Principles
This work is a continuation of the Inner Land/Scape series, which will be exhibited from December 2024 to February 2025 at the Pumapungo Museum and Archaeological Park, with the endorsement of said institution. Conceived as an immersion in the artistic and spiritual process of the artist Marcela Orellana Calle, this series pays tribute to her 36-year career, exploring her connection with ancestral knowledge and practices and with cultural identity through a live and multisensory artistic expression.
For the Vilcabamba Fest, the project seeks to merge art, memory and cultural identity in an innovative and evocative dialogue. During the intervention, the artist will embody a character inspired by ancestral deities, becoming a channeler who, through fluorescent paint and UV light, honors the worldview and wisdom of ancient peoples.
The project not only invites an aesthetic experience but also a deep reflection on the link between human beings and their environment, providing the public with an experience that raises awareness about the value of traditional knowledge, identity and physical, mental and spiritual well-being. This immersion, where art is experienced in real time, connects attendees with practices and knowledge that have been pillars of good living, contributing to educating and raising awareness about the relevance and permanence of this ancestral knowledge in contemporary life.
